Why Was Jordan Russel Killed?

The death of Davis happened on November 23, 2012, when Davis and his friends were out having fun. Davis was accompanied by Leland Brunson, Tommie Stornes, and Tevin Thompson, and they stopped at a gas station in Jacksonville for gums and cigarettes.

Stornes, the driver, went for the gums and cigarettes while Davis and his friend remained in the car listening to music. After a while, Dunn and his girlfriend Rhonda Rouer pulled into the parking lot. Rouer had gone to buy chips and wine, and Dunn was also left in the car.

While Davis and his friend were playing Hip-Hop music in their car, Davis complained that the music was too loud and told them to turn it down. Davis’s friend complied and lowered the sound, but Davis was angry, so he turned the music on.

Witnesses explained that Davis and Dunn continued to argue before things escalated. Dunn defended himself, claiming that Davis had threatened to kill him, and opened his car door with something that appeared like a shotgun.

Dunn took a handgun from his car and started firing at Davis. Dunn got out of his car and continued firing at Davis, claiming he feared for his life.

Was Jordan Russel Davis’s Killer jailed?

Dunn, the 40-year-old who killed a teenage boy, was found guilty and jailed for 90 years for first-degree murder. After the Jacksonville police searched the SUV that Davis was in, they found no weapons, which prompted the police to arrest the killer.

During the investigations, it was clear that Davis would not have opened his car door and pointed a gun toward Dunn because there were child safety locks on. Although Dunn’s defendant pleaded with the court to quit his client, he was found guilty of killing a harmless teenager.

On February 14, 2014, the jury could not reach a verdict, prompting a mistrial. During the second trial on September 22, 2014, Dunn was found guilty of first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and firing at a vehicle. Dunn was given a life imprisonment.
